Job Description
A great opportunity awaits the right candidate for an experienced full-time Copy Writer at the Corporate Office of United Cooperative in Beaver Dam, WI. The right person will enjoy working with a creative team on developing articles, newsletters, sales pieces, social media, profiles, and so much more. Working with a creative team developing new ideas and creating a branding image for this progressive leader in agriculture will offer a rewarding career. With 75% of the position being the writing development, the balance will be dealing with social media, donation requests, meetings, and creating fun new ideas with the other members of the communications department. A background in agriculture is a bonus.

Responsibilities:

Write content and develop material for a variety of needs including direct mail and other sales materials for specific product lines.
Write content for monthly employee newsletter and distribute via email.
Write and produce the cooperative’s annual report, solicit appropriate written contributions and approvals from management, and submit final copies to outside printer.
Write and produce the cooperative’s patron newsletters, solicit appropriate written contributions and approvals from management, and submit final copies to outside printer.
With the President’s approval, is responsible for all cooperative press releases and any responses to outside media.
Create and develop general cooperative advertising for print and radio media.
Assist in monitoring the use of the proper use of our company logo. Develop templates for employees to use for correspondence or presentations containing the cooperative logo.
Assist in monitoring the cooperative’s donation policy and program and administer as directed.
Assist in administering the corporate clothing program. Make appropriate selections for available clothing, negotiate with vendor, and distribute website information to employees for ordering clothing.
Assist in monitoring the cooperative’s website and other social media pages (i.e. Facebook, etc.) with updates as necessary.
Assist in organizing the cooperative’s events including the annual meeting, customer appreciation picnics, informational meetings, and holiday party. Organize the program for cooperative annual meeting and informational meetings.
Assist in updating job postings on company website and Facebook or other social media sites as necessary.
Assist with the department’s relationships with printing company(ies). Submit all requests for outside printing, including, letterhead, envelopes, and business cards and manage costs. Review product upon receipt to ensure it meets quality standards.
Assists in organizing the company’s county fair donations, including participation in area livestock auctions.
Assist with soliciting donations from vendors to sponsor corporate events.
Assist with ordering the annual calendar.
Assist in reviewing the cooperative scholarship program and publicize its availability and requirements for submission. Verify that entrants meet qualification standards and submit applications to outside firm for selection of recipients.
Must stay current and able to adapt to evolving communication strategies and methods.
Additional duties as assigned by President and the Vice President of Credit and Administration.

Qualifications:

Four-year college degree or equivalent experience in field of marking communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field – an agricultural background is helpful. Must have excellent organizational and time-management skills and exhibit proof-reading and attention to detail skills. Must be a self-starter with keen ability to exercise initiative, be able to work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

Must be computer literate with a high level of competence. Possess excellent interpersonal skills to interact with people at all levels of the organization. Experience using design software and video-editing programs helpful.
