Position Overview
We are seeking a Farm Operator / Precision Agriculture Specialist to support the daily operations of a modern crop farming operation. This role combines hands-on field work with the use of advanced precision agriculture technology to support the production of row crops and hay.
The ideal candidate is experienced in operating farm equipment, understands crop production practices, and is comfortable working with GPS-guided machinery and farm data systems.
Local, home every day Class A Commercial Drivers License truck routes available.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
• Operate farm equipment for planting, spraying, harvesting, and hay production
• Perform mowing, raking, baling, and handling of hay crops
• Assist with field preparation, planting, and harvest operations
• Monitor crop conditions and assist with crop management activities
Precision Agriculture
• Operate GPS-guided tractors and implements
• Support variable rate planting, fertilization, and application
• Collect and manage field data including yield and soil information
• Maintain and troubleshoot precision agriculture technology
Equipment Maintenance
• Perform routine maintenance on tractors, combines, planters, sprayers, and balers
• Identify mechanical issues and perform basic repairs
• Ensure equipment is calibrated and operating safely
General Farm Operations
• Assist with seasonal planning and daily farm operations
• Maintain farm facilities and storage areas
• Help manage inventory of seed, fertilizer, and inputs
• Follow all safety and environmental procedures
Qualifications
Required
• Experience operating agricultural equipment
• Knowledge of row crop farming practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver’s license
Preferred, CDL training available
• Experience with precision agriculture technology (GPS, auto-steer, yield monitoring)
• Experience with hay production
• Mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Degree or training in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Precision Agriculture
Work Environment
• Outdoor work in various weather conditions
• Seasonal extended hours during planting and harvest
• Physically active role including lifting, climbing, and operating machinery
