Lawn Mower Blade Sharpening Service
$8.00 per blade.
For Most Lawn Mowers - the correct angle to sharpen lawnmower blades is 30-35 degrees, the same as the cutting angle.
Standard blades are angled at 30º-35º degrees. This steeper cutting angle guarantees a longer blade life.
The sharpening angle is very important because it determines the sharpness and durability of the blade.
I sharpen the blades using a Fixed Angle Blade Jig – see pictures
Using a “Jig” vs. sharpening “Free Hand” ensures an exacting precise angle cut each and every time for each and every blade.
I DO NOT sharpen serrated lawn mower blades
The sharpening angle is very important because it determines the sharpness and durability of the blade. The smaller the angle, the sharper the blade.
Consider wider sharpening angles if you want the blade to last longer. It will feel duller (though still sharp enough for the job).
However, the blade wears slowly and thus will serve you for more months or even a few years. Another reason to sharpen mower blades at a higher angle is when working on rough terrain.
Sharpening your lawn mower blade is crucial for several reasons. A sharp blade cuts cleanly through grass, leaving a smooth, even cut that encourages healthy growth. In contrast, a dull blade tears and shreds the grass, causing stress, browning, and potential disease. This can lead to a weakened lawn, susceptible to weeds and pests.
