PhotoMidwest members have access to PhotoMidwest's darkroom. Film developing equipment is available for 35mm up to 4x5" sheet film. Wet film can be hung in our heated and ventilated metal drying cabinet. The hourly fee INCLUDES PhotoMidwest-supplied black and white film and paper developing solutions.
We have three Saunders/Omega/LPL 4500 series enlargers that can enlarge negative sizes from 35mm up to 4x5". All three enlargers are equipped with variable contrast heads if you want to use variable contrast paper. Enlarging easels and print developing trays are available for prints up to 23 x 25". We have two archival print washers, and two print dryers.
All of this is in a well lit darkroom due to our two Thomas Duplex Supersafelights which use low pressure sodium vapor bulbs.
PhotoMidwest members can reserve darkroom time online in real-time on the PhotoMidwest website. Payment for darkroom time is also done online via the website. Additional information about the darkroom is on the PhotoMidwest website at: www.photomidwest.org/darkroom-facilities
We have four options to digitize (scan) your film. You can re-photograph film using our motorized copy stand, an Essential Film Holder (35mm film or transparencies or 120 film), our macro lens, and lens adapters to fit Canon, Nikon, and Sony mirrorless bodies. Alternatively we have a bellows with its accessory holder for a 35mm film transparency or negative strip, a macro lens, and lens adapters to fit Canon, Nikon, and Sony mirrorless bodies. Scanning options are two Nikon Coolscan film scanners for 35mm up to medium format plus a flatbed scanner for larger formats or rapidly scanning strips of film or transparencies.
