Drummer here interested in forming or joining an indie-type band. 45 y/o experienced drummer in search of like-minded, easy-going, respectful and fun people to play music with. I've played in "jam" type bands most of my life, and I'm looking to get into something different. Prefer originals and some covers.
Some examples of kind of band / sound I'm looking for (in no particular order):
Lord Huron
Soccer Mommy
Twen
War on Drugs
Slow Pulp
Broken Social Sceen
Nilüfer Yanya
Wet Leg
Billie Marten
The Shins
Wolf Alice
Warpaint
Lola Young
Girl Scout
Snail Mail
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
I can play full kit, percussion, and / or cajon, have my own gear, and also sing a bit. I've been in many bands since I was 15 and have experience playing (different versions of) rock, funk, reggae, ska, blues, and jam. Many years of experience playing live from small dive bars to multiple Summerfest stages and other Midwest festivals. Spent a couple years working on the side as a studio musician for hire.
I'm hoping to practice once a week, and eventually play out 1 - 3 times a month. Also open to recording. I have a full time job, and available nights and weekends. Not looking to make it big at this point, but also wouldn’t be bummed about it…just want to play regularly with good people. I am a bit particular of a band's sound, so if I'm not into it, no hard feelings. If helpful, depending on the size of the group and instrumentation, I could set up a space for band practice, but ideally it would take place elsewhere.
Bonus: I have booking, marketing, and flyer design experience.
Thanks for reading and I hope you find what you're looking for.
Cheers,
Justin
