I'm a lead guitarist assembling a group, preferably consisting of two guitars, keys, bass, drums, and vocals (male and female) for a heavy rock cover band. Our theme will be Gen X nostalgia -- hard rock and metal spanning the 70's through 90's.
Shows will be high-energy and audience-engaging. Looking for true-to-album accuracy, except in the case of a couple creative rearrangements.
Singers: Stage presence and range are important. Submit video if you can when contacting.
Keys: Accurate reproduction of the original synth patches is a plus.
All musicians: Bonus if you can double on other instruments.
I'm forming this group as a fun alternative to my usual wedding-type gigs, but I still expect professional conduct from all on and off-stage. I'm looking to get paid and earn it. As soon as we're rehearsed, there's a strong likeliness of immediate bookings.
If you're confident in your ability to quickly learn a set of about 50 songs of varying difficulty, contact me with a quick description of your background. Include attachments or links to audio or video of recent performances. If you don't have any, record yourself performing excerpts from a couple selections. Ask me for suggestions if you like. Instrumentalists, let me know if you are comfortable singing backups. Religious and political beliefs are not deal-breakers; but if you're on the Right and would feel uncomfortable making music among others who are advocates for women, GSM, and immigrants, consider whether this would be a good fit.
Artists likely to be represented in our set list:
Black Sabbath, Alice in Chains, Spin Doctors, STP, ZZ Top, Faith No More, Billy Squier, Liz Phair, Foo Fighters, Bad Company, the Runaways, Quiet Riot, Kansas, Journey, Loverboy, Jane's Addiction, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Joan Jett, Dio, Cracker, Metallica, Danzig, Sonic Youth, Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin, Extreme, Heart, Blue Oyster Cult, Pixies, The Cult, Dokken
Timeline: Four rehearsals maximum, focusing on one of three small sets at a time plus some additional polishing. After that, we simply work. The time commitment should be minimal, depending on everyone's familiarity with the material.
