I purchased this guitar as an investment in 2001. Since then, it has been stored safely in its case and is in essentially mint condition. It has been played only a handful of times for very short sessions.
The guitar comes with the original case (also mint), the original receipt of purchase, and all the original literature and hang tags. This is a complete package for a collector or player seeking a pristine instrument. They don't make them like this anymore!
The price is firm. Thanks for your interest!
The 2001 PRS McCarty Hardtail (stoptail bridge version) is a vintage-appointed solid-body electric guitar featuring classic woods, a slightly thicker body for enhanced sustain, and proprietary McCarty humbucking pickups designed to capture the essence of a vintage instrument. The "Hardtail" name refers to its fixed wrap-around stoptail bridge, which contributes to its resonance.
The McCarty model was named after Ted McCarty, a pioneer in the electric guitar industry who consulted with Paul Reed Smith. The guitar features a classic double-cutaway design with a solid mahogany body and a carved maple top. It typically comes with a "Wide-Fat" neck profile designed for comfort and playability, appealing to players seeking a traditional feel. The original McCarty Treble and Bass humbucker pickups (often referred to as McCarty I or II pickups in that era) provide a warm, clear, and versatile tone palette, with a push/pull tone knob for coil-tapping functionality.
