Viola is set up with Piastro Obligato strings (2022, but still have good life left), and does not have any cracks, major scratches, or open seams. The seam by the button came open years ago, but was repaired by a luthier. It has been cleaned and is ready to play!
One owner!! This was my instrument since high school, and it has been played consistently for the past 22 years up until today, and has been lovingly taken care of. It's had an amazing life and has more life to live! This is considered an advanced student instrument, and would be perfect for any student looking for an upgrade.
Like most Eastman instruments, it has an overall bright tone, yet is balanced as it's had 22 years to settle into its sound. The A string is balanced and not obnoxiously bright, and the mid and lower strings have a lovely mellow tone. The sound opens up even more in warm/humid environments.
The Pro Tec wood case ($200) includes a full size music pocket, instrument blanket, shoulder strap, string tube, lock key, 2 storage compartments, and built-in hygrometer. It's had a life, so it has some scuffs, but it's in great condition and nothing is broken.
