Richard the Second is the story of a leader with experience and knowledge, but a terrible image problem, who is overthrown in a surprise populist uprising by a new breed of leader who promises peace and prosperity but instead reigns over violent and turbulent times.

Sound familiar?

Directed by Christopher William Wolter, this Madison Shakespeare Company/Broom Street Theater cooperation explores the nature of rulership, identity, and consent, and challenges us to examine the origins of authority and political power.

Featuring Tia Tanzer as Richard and Katie Norman as Henry Bolingbroke, and the talents of Joshua Woolfolk, Scott Harman, Maggie Schenk, Benjamin Olneck-Brown, Janine Puleo, Scott Campbell, Shirley Nwangwa, Niccole Carner, Jason Compton, Katie Erdmann, and Tom Kastle.
