As a rule, the more bizarre a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be. We were skeptics too, until we saw the scene first-hand, assembled the evidence, and learned more than anyone should.
After they acquired a 1920's French fiddle, a well-loved acoustic piano, and a curiously tuned banjo, the experimental act once known as Dance Macabre sought novel sounds in a remote laboratory in Antarctica. Unfortunately, they went too far, experimenting with avian viruses and the mind-bending plant Atropa belladonna, poisoning human subjects and leaving them unfit for polite society.
These dangerous creatures are still at-large, but the scientists who created them are dead. Families of the researchers hired my associate and myself to investigate what truly occurred in this secret laboratory. After reviewing scientists' logs, patients' charts, individual journals, and extensive materials recorded live on a tascam field recorder, we have pieced together a series of events detailing how this unfortunate incident occurred.
Neither my associate nor myself seek personal renown for this private enquiry, but at the insistence of the scientists' families, we have been tasked with ensuring the public's right to know what happened in that laboratory. Once you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.
