Imagine the excitement of sharing your life with someone who has never experienced your family’s favorite things. Your family can teach your foreign student about your favorite American pastimes. You could take your new foreign son or daughter to see a ballgame, to a museum, or to your own family picnic!
In return, you will look at your family’s everyday activities in a new light, through a new pair of eyes. Your foreign son or daughter will make your family activities special, exciting, and more memorable! By hosting an foreign student, you will broaden your entire family’s perspective of the world.
Forte International Exchange Association (FIEA) is a State-Department recognized student exchange program based in Washington, DC. Since 2000, we have brought nearly 2,000 international students to the US to study in public schools and experience American life and culture. We are currently seeking families to host students starting in the Fall of 2008. These students are selected for our program based on high academic achievement, strong English abilities, and interest in American culture. Host families receive $200 per month to host, but the real rewards are intangible: exposing your family to another culture, sharing your home and family life with a visitor from abroad, and making a personal investment in global cooperation and understanding.
