Somehow, I don't believe this. Why? I just keep imagining PBS and why are are Federal tax dollars funding them??? They should be able to make it just like NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox, but somehow the Federal public option is going to cost us nothing. I just don't see it happening, especially if they run it like Medicare/Medicaid. This program is so corrupt, but liberals just don't seem to care about that. They don't seem to care that billions of dollars are being spent on fraudulent claims each month, yet they want to roll out another program like that to help us. I don't understand why liberals don't care about our country?

PBS and NPR are partially funded by fed/state/local taxes so they are independent of commercial pressure. Less than half their funding comes from taxes, the rest is grants and fundraising drives, and "underwriting".
Wherever there is a lot of people and money, there will be fraud and waste. Public or private, makes no difference. Medicare fraud accounts for about 5 billion per year, and each year, people are caught and charged for it. It will never be eliminated, just like shoplifting will never be eliminated. That cost 20 billion per year. Private insurance fraud cost 80 billion in 2006. Maybe the gov should hire more agents to catch these crooks, but that would mean increased taxes. Same with the shoplifting or other crime. Few things deter crime more than more cops, but that would mean raising taxes. Can't have it both ways.
Do these comments make me "a liberal"? I am not supporting or rejecting any healthcare plans, or PBS, or Medicare. I'm just telling you how it is.
