Midwest Initiative(s) to Increase Awareness about Borderline Personality Disorder:
Please contact me if you are a) coping with a borderline personality in your life and looking for support groups, or b) wanting to help raise awareness about this disease.
I am considering forming a board (or boards) of advisors, and creating a regional organization to; 1) raise money to increase awareness about BPD, 2) raise money to support BPD research, 3) awaken family courts to BPD, 4) influence public policy and allocation of resources, 5) create new support groups for those coping with BPD personalities, 6) facilitate certification of group leaders to run support groups, 7) organize regional network of professionals that can help non-BPD's survive the process of getting out of chosen relationships, and 8) create a media resource bank to help accelerate our national conversation about BPD.
Regional efforts will be aligned to complement national efforts currently underway at NEA-BPD, NIH, and NAMI.
My name is Michael. I am expert on BPD and have myself survived a 17 year relationship with an undiagnosed, high-functioning borderline. There are many things we can do as a community to increase awareness about BPD and thereby lessen the suffering for others.
