We are the Madison East High School BOOK RESCUERS. In an effort to recycle Madison School District’s discarded books, MMSD students with disabilities and staff began the Book Rescuer project in 2004 and the project is now based at East High School. We are happy to report that in addition to saving books from going into Madison’s landfills, this project provides the students an opportunity to gain valuable work skills. Listing books on Craig’s List is just part of a greater effort to RECYCLE discarded books. In addition to earning money and gaining work skills, students are part of a coordinated effort to donate books to local agencies and needy organizations around the world.
